4th ODI: Ajinkya Rahane gets four stitches on right hand
Ajinkya Rahane, who injured himself during Australia's innings in the fourth ODI at the Manuka Oval in Canberra needed four stitches on his right hand.
India are chasing 349 against Australia in the penultimate game of the five-match series. Rahane, who has scored two fifties in the series so far, will bat if needed. (4th ODI: Live Updates) After electing to bat, Australia were well served by openers Aaron Finch (107) and David Warner (93).
Cameos from Steve Smith (51) and Glenn Maxwell (41) helped the hosts edge close to 350 despite some good bowling from Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav in the closing stages. India have already lost the series and are playing for pride. The bowlers have been under fire for failing to defend successive 300-plus scores and a target of 296 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday. Rahane's injury is a major blow to the Indian team, which has only five specialist batsmen for this series. It remains to be seen how he copes when he does come out to bat later in India's chase.
