Odd turns even for all
Jan 1, 2016 the day when the whole nation had an eye on its capital, Delhi. This time it wasn’t the state's election nor any Court's decision neither a march or a rally. It was the day to execute the commands of Delhi’s chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, perhaps the oddest command by the most even Chief Minister, for the betterment of most polluted state of India rather Asia, New Delhi. It was the day of ODD versus EVIL.
One can say that every 3rd home in Delhi is Airborne diseased. From the “Delhi ka Auto walas” to the constables on roads, every common man is suffering from this Pollution Problem. Almost everyone except for those who can afford air purifiers in their homes.
Everyone across had a neutral thought for this Odd-Even Rule, even the worst critics of the CM, wished luck for this trial. A 15 day trial enforcing odd number vehicles on odd dates and even on even. Though this had various loop holes and way outs. Not many were thinking this to be actually applicable in the state where the local police itself is under the Central Government.
The Clock ticked 8 am people started coming on roads, and to a huge surprise we saw Delhiites being worried for their future generation. YES! The rule was being applied, people started accepting it with all their hearts, wish and will. Though some were still busy finding faults in it. For those the volunteers of AAP showered flowers requesting them to take care of the nature for their future and family. Whereas some faced heavy fine i.e. Rs. 2000/-
All and over the day went smooth, it seemed as Delhiites were prepared for the day, “showed overwhelmed response” said the Chief Minister. “The decision was brilliant” said the common man of Delhi but “needs improvements in Local transport system” they added.
All set and done a week has passed and a week yet to go. A ray of light for a better Delhi was lightened by the 14th Feb 2015 mandate. And yes for sure one can say Work in Progress...
