Maharashtra govt to induct 500 AC buses on rent
MUMBAI: The MSRTC plans to procure 500 brand new air-conditioned buses on rent. They will be called the "Shivshahi" buses and will be deployed on most AC routes including the Mumbai-Pune corridor, sources said.
Sources stated that the buses will include two types - 45 seater AC buses and sleeper coach buses. The sleeper coach will have 30 sleepers for passengers. At present, the transport corporation plans to finalise the design and logo of these buses and has invited citizens to suggest the same. The best design will also get cash rewards, a source stated.
The MSRTC also plans to induct its own super-luxury buses procured from Scania and 35 Volvo buses in the fleet for the existing Shivneris. The undertaking plans to keep a check on the bus speed of the AC buses as there have been complaints in the past of overspeeding, the sources added.
